Actually, Milk was not "in theaters during the national debate over California’s Proposition 8." It premiered October 28th in San Francisco, but did not go into even limited release until late November (and general release around December 5). I'm not nit-picking your review; it was just a very big deal to those of us fighting Prop 8: If it had been released even a month earlier, it could have done far more good for the very community it depicts. (P.S. I was in high school during the Briggs/Prop 6 battle, and yes, it was just as horrible and shocking IRL. It was my first real taste of just how much people hate us, and to what depths they will sink to demonize us.)
