The Dork Report for October 10, 2006
- Screw the iPhone; EnoWeb has the scoop on the EnoPhone, AKA the Nokia 8800 Sirocco. (click on "Experience the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition")
- The Cotswold Gnomes: Unreleased Works of Startling Genius (Sid Smith’s review), an odds ‘n’ sods record from Robert Fripp & Brian Eno is due any day now as a digital download from DGMLive.com. I’m disappointed it draws only from sessions since 1992, but it does include "Cross Crisis In Lust Storm" which Smith cites Fripp himself claiming it as his best ever recorded performance. Incidentally, Sid understates the "Healthy Colours" suite as "abrasive"; a word I might use is "shite."
- Awwww… Throw a pity party for the victims of "guerrilla comedian named Sacha Baron Cohen", aka Borat. Funny how every complaint comes down to someone wanting to get paid. (guest submission from Andrea)
- Battle of the Album Covers. Moments of pure brilliance, moments of pure juvenilia. (guest submission from Andrea)
- Gorillaz’ new book Rise of the Ogre comes out October 23 in the UK, and November 2 in US.
